The Photo Project

Photo Project Ideas

It may not be immediately obvious how to come up with new Project ideas. The concept has been left deliberately open to allow unconstrained creativity but this does leave it a little unguided.

So, to assist...

First and foremost you need to think of a book that will sell (even in small numbers). You might think that 'Pictures of toenails' might be fun but the populace may be against you. People like looking and great photography so any theme that can draw in great photos in ideal.

You then need to think of a charity. This could be something you already support or something that works well with your theme.

If it is a local charity, then you can simply go for pictures from that area ( like the Edinburgh project ) or you can pick a larger charity and go with a theme. Obvious examples would be, pictures of birds for the RSPB or animals for the WWF.

Community based books will also work well (like the Ipernity project ). Maybe you are in a photographic club/site (on or offline). You could collect the favourite pictures from your group and decide on a charity together.

One last idea. Maybe you've had an event and there are lots of photos. You could do a book of the event ( like the Sucata project ). They don't have to be great photographs and it doesn't matter that it may only sell 20 copies. The way The Photo Project has been set up means this isn't an issue and you'll still make some money for your cause.
